All’s Green At Cookridge As Josh Edges to Victory!
20 degrees? You wouldn’t believe the weather that greeted a full field of junior golfers this month! Forget El Nino, how about El Scorchio!!! A wonderfully presented course, some cracking golfers and amazing weather! Join us here for all the action in the latest junior Tigers competition here at Cookridge Hall…..
A special welcome this month goes to Alexa Pickard who was making her Tigers debut here at Cookridge Hall! A warm welcome to you Alexa and we hope you had a super day!
The weather was hot, so was the golf and the blues and whites combined this month to find a gross prize winner and also a nett prize winner. We saw some accurate approaches and precise putts in both sections. In the handicap event, the player returning the best nett score was Josh Green. Josh and loyal Tigers supporter George Grant both tied on a nett score of 31 strokes. To decide a winner, we looked at both players final 3 holes, and Josh prevailed scoring lower on these final three holes. Well done both boys, and congratulations to Josh on this occasion. Special mention must go to Harvey Appleyard who scored a EAGLE on the tricky par 4 7th hole! Awesome work Harvey!
The winner of the gross prize, which is given to the player returning the best gross score, before handicaps are taken into account was Niall Langley-Brook, who went around the modified 8 hole course in a superb score of 35 (+2). Niall, playing off a handicap of +1 had a superb ball striking afternoon with a very constant score card. Had a few more putts dropped, he could well have been under par for the second time this year. Well played Niall.
Like the blues and whites, the yellow section and red section combined this month to find our two prize winners. Leading the way in the nett competition with a seriously impressive score of 30 (-3) was Oliver Browell. With mum and grandma “on the bag” for some moral support, Oliver played some very steady golf. The highlight of Olivers round was a birdie 3 on the 7th hole. Congratulations Oliver and well done mum and grandma for the support!
The gross prize winner this month, scoring a majestic score of 42 strokes was Charlie Underhill with a super score. Charlie tied for the 8 hole score with new comer Harry Taylor who was playing only his second ever event! To find a winner, we had to compare both boys final 3 holes, and by nature of a 6 on the final green, Charlie was declared the winner! Well done to both boys on a super afternoons golf.
